Continental rubber compounds enhance sports shoes grip

adidasTHE ADIZERO ADIOS 2 shoes from Adidas worn by winning Kenyan athlete, Patrick Makau at the 2011 Berlin Marathon, were made with a specially developed Continental rubber compound that guarantees much better traction and thus less slip with every push-off and in curves.

There are currently 24 different models of Adidas running and trekking shoes for men and women on the market, all of them featuring an extremely effective non-slip Continental sole.

David O’Donnell, in charge of global passenger tyre research and development at Continental noted the excellent wet grip advantage of the passenger tyres of Continental that the sports shoe sole carries.

In addition to the world record running shoe – adizero adios 2 – this category also includes all adistar and S Nova riot models, whilst the trekking segment features the Terrex Fast R and Terrex Fast R Mid GTX. Europe’s leading tyre specialist and Europe’s leading manufacturer of sports articles pooled their expertise in the manufacturing process, Continental said.

Continental produced the rubber compound for the sole at its Hanover development laboratories. These soles give running shoes much better traction and running efficiency. The successful cooperation commenced nearly three years ago.
