CHINA, which in previous quarters, had claimed of surplus rubber inventories at its Qingdao warehouses, purchased an estimated 54,000 metric tonnes of ribbed smoked sheet (RSS) grade natural rubber (NR) from local suppliers for government stockpiles, according to reports.
About 150,000 of NR, costing between 20,200 yuan (US$3,296)/metric tonne and 21,500 yuan/metric tonne, has been purchased from major domestic sellers, Sinochem International, China Hainan Rubber and Yunan State Farms Group. The State Reserve Bureau is looking at obtaining another 50,000 metric tonnes of imported RSS.
