CABOT Corporation has agreed to US Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) national enforcement initiative to control industrial air emissions, including carbon black manufacturing facilities.
Inline with the initiative, Cabot has agreed to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOX), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (PM) from its carbon black plants in the US.
It has also committed to install advanced control technology and continuous emission monitoring systems; and these will be commissioned over a six and a half year time period for an estimated US$85 million.
The firm says that its investment in advanced emission control technologies reflects its commitment to sustainability.
