Bridgestone invests US$1.22 bn in new Vietnam plant

BSCJAPANESE tyre maker Bridgestone Corp, which held a groundbreaking ceremony for its tyre plant in Hai Phong, Vietnam last year, has obtained the license to pump up its planned investment in a plant in the northern city of Hai Phong.

Reports say that the company was given the approval to moe than double its investment, from US$575 million to over US$1.22 billion.

The plant is expected to be finished and start a trial run in the first half of 2014. Operation will commence on the third year thereafter, with a capacity of 49,000 radial-ply tyres per day.

The tyres from the plant will be shipped to Japan, the US and Europe.
