Bluestar Silicones, a global integrated silicones supplier, announces it has expanded its liquid silicone rubber (LSR) capacity at its facility in York, South Carolina, to meet the growing needs of the marketplace. This expansion increases capacity by approximately 30%.
“We made a significant investment in the US. market in 2012 with the opening of our new state-of-the-art facility in York, S.C. And, as part of our strategic growth plan, we continue to invest in our business through capacity expansions, new markets and the development of new silicone solutions with a personal touch for our customers,” said J. Christopher York, President of Bluestar Silicones North America.
According to York, the LSR market is growing at a rate of about 8%. Key markets for LSR include healthcare and medical products, consumer products, electrical and electronic products, and automotive components.
The company’s LSR product line offers high-performance physical properties in easy-to-process formulations, yielding higher productivity and less defects for moulders.
Bluestar Silicones uniquely offers ultra-low durometer LSRs, including 01 and 05 ShA, with exceptional high tear strength and elongation for soft cushioning and vibration dampening applications.
