Aether Industries Ltd. and Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) have launched an exclusive, multi-year research program to advance silicone manufacturing technology development in India. The program will leverage Aether’s R&D and pilot facilities in Surat, Gujarat, to develop next-generation manufacturing technologies for silicones, bringing together scientific expertise and process innovation to accelerate innovation in this critical sector.
As one of India’s first dedicated collaborative research programs focused on silicone manufacturing technology, this initiative marks a significant milestone for the country’s specialty chemicals industry, the firms add.
With India continuing to rely heavily on imported silicone technologies, the program aims to strengthen indigenous innovation, enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, and contribute to building a globally competitive innovation ecosystem.
Initially, both companies will focus on research and development, process optimisation, and pilot-scale testing. Subsequently, they will evaluate opportunities to scale up the technologies for commercial manufacturing.
Aether says the initiative reflects its continued commitment to advancing science-led innovation and developing technologies.
