New tyre plant for Global Rubber

New tyre plant for Global RubberWITH business having catapulted over the last nine years, Sri Lanka-based Global Rubber Industries opened its second industrial tyre plant recently. The US$6 million facility will produce 400,000 units/year of industrial solid resilient tyres as well as press on band tyres.

The company was set up in 2002 as a producer and exporter of industrial tyres for the material handling industry. The first manufacturer of a totally indigenous Sri Lankan solid tyre brand, Globe Star, Global Rubber has now diversified to producing a range of brands, said Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe recently.

The ISO9001-certified company has a workforce of over 500 and exports its tyres to over 40 countries. It also has sales offices in the US, France, Germany and the Netherlands, said Subasinghe.(PRA)
