THE PHILIPPINES is set to expand coffee, cacao and rubber plantations in Mindanao,as part of its National Greening Programme (NGP),
According to the director of the Forest Management Bureau Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Php6.2-billion NGP for Mindanao will prioritise planting of high-value crops, such as rubber, coffee and cacao.
Mindanao will also get funding for the establishment of tree plantations, specifically falcate and mangrove. By the current year, the government expects to cover 300,000 hectares.
