TRELLEBORG Sealing Solutions has exhibited the various applications for Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) technology, high volume precision parts and components with very tight tolerances in liquid silicone and multi-component medical device products at a recently stages industry show in the US
At the MD&M East held recently in June at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre, Trelleborg would enable medical device and life sciences customers the ability to deliver enhanced product performance competitively, regardless of the manufacturer site – whether it be in the US, Europe or China, says the firm in a press release.
TRELLENORG’s LSR manufacturing and design capabilities are completely automated and deliver medical device and life sciences customers specialised, custom-moulded components and a competitive edge, says Trelleborg. Its life sciences market segment is fast growing due to its ability to exceed competitors’ capacity, capability and expertise in liquid silicone parts for medical and pharmaceutical applications, ranging from IV administration to surgical tools, it added.
“By leveraging US$10.6 million investment in R&D, tripling our cleanroom capabilities and expanding more than 30% in manufacturing capacity, Trelleborg will grow its position as a life sciences leader in polymer engineering,” says Jerry Zawada, Segment Manager Life Sciences. “We are proud of our newly expanded Massachusetts-based silicone center of excellence, which has become FDA registered, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accredited and has a certified ISO Class 7 cleanroom.”
At the show, Trelleborg also introduced its Durobal rolling element bearings that enable 360-degree smooth rotation of the MRI scanner tables and completely eliminates potential magnetic interference. The Turcon® Variseal Ultra-Clean, an exceptional medical grade silicone seal that eliminates bacteria growth and alleviates contamination concerns will also be displayed. Other critical life sciences applications Trelleborg Sealing Solutions serves include ventilators, respirators, dialyzers, centrifuges, blood analyzers, surgical instruments, diagnostic equipment, drug delivery, and prosthetics.
