THE INDIAN Rubber Board and Rubber Skill Development Centre (RSDC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will enable the latter to provide skill development and quality training standards for natural rubber plantations in India.
Vinod Simon, Chairman RSDC said the programme could benefit an estimated 1 million planters who are involved in NR plantation in the country.
Whilst India is amongst the top producers of NR, the country’s potential has not been maximised due to inadequate manpower skills.
Training and capacity building will be two key areas under the MOU. The two rubber agencies will jointly develop occupational standards for various professions/occupations in NR production sector and provide certified training programmes to augment the number of trained persons.
