ACCORDING to Tran Thi Thuy Hoa, General-Secretary of the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA), demand for natural rubber in the country is likely to increase.
Hoa said, during a recent conference on sustainable rubber development held in southern Binh Phuoc Province, the rubber growing areas have developed quickly as driven by high rubber prices in foreign markets.
To meet the rising demand, the industry has to expand growing areas and ensure the quality of products, she said.
Vietnam is currently the third largest global exporter of natural rubber, following Thailand and Indonesia. Its rubber output has reached up to 1.01 million tonnes last year, an increase of 23.8% from 2011, citing the VRA.
