BRIDGESTONE Americas, part of Bridgestone Corporation studies the potential of Russian Dandelion as a source for commercially-viable and renewable source of high-grade natural rubber, under the auspices of the Programme for Excellence in Natural Rubber Alternatives (PENA) based at the Ohio State University’s Agricultural Research and Development Centre.
By 2014, the Bridgestone subsidiaries will be conducting a large scale testing of dandelion-derived natural rubber at their technical laboratories in Akron and Tokyo.
Bridgestone has especially established a pilot farm and constructed a rubber process research centre in the US to analyse the property similarities between the natural rubbers derived from Guayule and from Russian Dandelion. (RJA)
