Huntsman sells Italian auto components firm to Trelleborg

Chemical firm Huntsman Corporation says it has sold Huntsman Gomet, a business located in Azeglio, Italy, to Trelleborg Group for EUR42.5 million, subject to customary post-closing adjustments.

Gomet is a manufacturer of moulded rubber and thermoplastic automotive aftermarket components, which was a business within Huntsman’s Polyurethanes division, and was acquired by Huntsman in 2014 as part of the Rockwood acquisition.

Gomet specialises in protective polymer components for critical automotive systems, primarily constant velocity joint boots, jounce bumpers, and rack and pinion boots.

In 2025, Gomet generated revenues of approximately EUR24 million. The proceeds from this transaction will be used to reduce outstanding borrowings.

“Gomet further strengthens our position in automotive boots both as a key supplier to the world’s leading OEMs and now also in the aftermarket, where we see significant opportunities. As the lifespan of vehicles on the road continues to increase, there is a corresponding demand for high-quality replacement parts to keep critical systems damage-free,” says Jean-Paul Mindermann, President of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions.

Trelleborg has a global presence in automotive boots, built on customer proximity, with operations across Europe, Asia, and North America.
