Sri Lankan specialty tyre manufacturer Global Rubber Industries (GRI) sees 2021 as a year to build and grow on the strong foundation it has laid in 2020, according to GRI Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe.
Recently, GRI held two outreach activities in the natural rubber communities it works with.
The events were held as part of GRI’s GreenX Circle initiative, which supports Sri Lankan agricultural communities and the country’s vibrant agricultural industry.
Identifying a need for extra-curricular sporting activities and equipment for school children in the area, GRI distributed cricket equipment, volleyball equipment and badminton kits, as well as school bags and stationery kits to farmers’ school children in Monaragala.
Dr Mahesha Ranasoma, CEO of GRI said that Green XCircle initiative helps improve the socio-economic status of Sri Lankan rubber farmers by ensuring fair compensation for their products and giving them the foundation to expand and innovate in rubber cultivation.
Meanwhile, GRI Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe announced that this year, the company is starting with the second phase of production expansion and is increasing the capacity of its new radial agriculture tyre plant to 50 TPD. Furthermore, it aims to expand into new geographical areas in 2021 and increase its B2C business footprint around the world, he said.
