Hankook Tire America Corp. (Hankook) has been selected to provide a new OE fitment to General Motors Co. 2021 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD heavy-duty models. Hankook will supply the Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks with an 18-inch version of its award-winning Dynapro MT2 light truck tyres, which will provide improved steering function and exceptional off-road capability.
Engineered with 3D simulation software, the Dynapro MT2 features a connected shoulder tread, V-shaped shoulder scallops and stone-ejecting technology that provides additional rigidity, traction and protection against punctures; its optimised “terrain-strike” tread design and a high turn-up, three-ply sidewall provides added protection against off-road abrasions while also maintaining on-road comfort and functionality.
“When designing the Dynapro MT2, we took special care in its steering functionality and driving comfort,” said Hyunjun Cho, Head of Hankook Tire OE Division. “We developed the Dynapro MT2 such that allows for a more aggressive tread with a seamless sidewall that helps reduce noise and improve durability. As a result, though it is an off-road tyre, its on-road performance is quite pleasant.”
The pickup trucks’ AT4 off-road package is ideal for the aggressive tread design of the Dynapro MT2, as both trucks are equipped with trailer tech options, such as skid plates, virtual rear camera view capabilities and lane departure warnings that extend the length of a hooked-up trailer, Hankook said.
