India’s Apollo Tyres (Apollo) has just set up its first sales office, inclusive of a team of service personnel, in Kathmandu, Nepal. The opening also marks Apollo’s maiden office in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region, outside of India. At present, Nepal contributes more than 35% of the company’s exports to SAARC countries.
Capitalising on Nepal’s budding growth and development, Apollo seeks to cater to its potential customers with its truck-bus radials and passenger car tyres – a number of Apollo’s products have been well accepted across the country already, and the company has garnered a sizeable market share in the commercial and passenger car tyre segments.
At the ceremony, Rajesh Dahiya, Apollo’s VP of Marketing, Sales & Service (India, SAARC & Oceania), said, “Our product range fits well with the Nepalese consumer requirements and with the support of our key distribution and retail partners here, we have been able to penetrate most of the replacement tyre market segments. Now that we have a foothold in Nepal, we believe it is the perfect time to step up our focus in this market with the establishment of this office in the capital city.”
Most recently, the tyremaker introduced the Alpha radial range and Acti-series bias range of two-wheeler tyres in Nepal. With the fast-improving road infrastructure, the company claims to be able to service the commercial vehicle segment in Nepal at “nearly 100%.”
