A Mexican-Chinese joint venture has broken ground on a 60 tonnes/year nitrile rubber plant in Nanjing, China. The project is a 50-50 joint venture between Grupo KUO, S.A.B. de C.V. (Kuo), and Jiangsu GPRO Group Co. Ltd. (GPRO). The project is known as INSA GPRO (Nanjing) Synthetic Rubber Co. Ltd.
The joint venture involves a US$60 million investment in a new plant located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, with an initial production capacity of 30,000 tonnes/year in its first phase. The Nanjing plant will begin operations by early 2014. Construction has now begun, following approval by Chinese authorities.
