French tyre maker Michelin and South Korean car maker Hyundai Motors signed an agreement to develop next generation tyres for electric and luxury vehicles.
Michelin’s next generation tyre material and structural technology will be used for the development of a bespoke tyre for Hyundai’s Genesis G80 luxury sedan. It will help determine tyre vibration characteristics at high speeds both in a controlled laboratory setting and the Nürburgring circuit at Rhineland-Palantinate, Germany.
The two companies are determined to achieve the optimum and excellent level of ride and handling, while reducing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). With the efforts of Michelin and Hyundai, the two firms believe that improvements in tyre performance and vehicle dynamics will satisfy consumers.
Representatives from Hyundai motors visited Michelin’s R&D Centre in Clermont-Ferrand, France to sign the agreement.
