Swedish polymers firm Hexpol has acquired 80% shares in Mesgo Group from the existing main owner Francesco Caldara and co-owners for EUR168 million.
Mesgo is an industry leader in high performance elastomers as fluorocarbons and silicone. In addition, Mesgo also specialises in conventional rubber compounds and thermoplastics. The major customer segments it focuses on are industry, consumer products, transportation and automotive, with annual sales of around EUR100 million and around 180 employees in six facilities.
With this acquisition, Hexpol says it takes a strategic move in to high performance elastomers, where Mesgo has cutting-edge knowhow. Mesgo’s facilities are in Carobbio and Gorlago in Italy and in Poland and Turkey. It has also facilities specialising in thermoplastics and masterbatches in Garlasco and Grigno in Italy.
Mesgo’s facilities in Turkey and Poland have a production capacity of 12,000 tonnes/year for silicone rubber. Organic rubber compounds are produced in the Carobbio degli Angeli plant, which has a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes/year, and two production lines – one for black and one for coloured compounds. Fkm compounds are produced in the Gorlago plant with a production capacity of 3,000 tonnes/year.
With Hexpol’s sizeable installed base of customers, Mesgo says it is uniquely positioned across the growing compounding industry to reach new markets and qualified customers.
For Hexpol, Mesgo’s local manufacturing in Poland and Turkey, will allow it to expand its geographical markets.
