Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations and Bridgestone Canada (Bridgestone) have issued a voluntary recall of approximately 2,700 tyres of all positions, wide base radial commercial truck tyres in size 425/65R22.5.
The recall includes the following tyres:
- Firestone FS818 tyres in size 425/65R22.5 with Department of Transportation (DOT) date codes 2318 and 2418
- Bridgestone M854 tyres in size 425/65R22.5 with DOT date codes 2418 and 2518
- Bridgestone M860A tyres in size 425/65R22.5 with DOT date code 2518
- Bridgestone M864 tyres in size 425/65R22.5 with DOT date codes 2318 and 2418
All tyres covered under this recall were manufactured between 10-30 June 2018, and sold throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Firestone FS818, Bridgestone M854, Bridgestone M860A and Bridgestone M864 truck tyres manufactured outside the affected production range are not part of the recall.
The affected tyres may not comply with a specific endurance test requirement as regulated under the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and similar applicable laws and regulations in Canada and Mexico. Thetyres risk exposure of steel body cords in the sidewall to the environment, which could lead to deterioration of the cords in that area, thusincreasing the possibility of a crash. This is a voluntary noncompliance recall as there are no known accidents or injuries.
Bridgestone is sending notifications to regulatory agencies in affected regions and potentially affected commercial original equipment manufacturers, national account fleets, authorized dealers, company-owned stores, and end-user customers regarding the recall.
Bridgestone said it will replace all defectivetyres with a functional Bridgestone or Firestone truck tyre in size 425/65R22.5, or with a suitable replacement tyre, for free.
Owners of tyres subject to this recall are urged to contact their authorized Bridgestone tyre dealer or company-owned service center to arrange verification and replacement.
