Bridgestone, the world’s largest tyre manufacturer, plans to invest around EUR 164.24 million in its plant in Pozna?, Western Poland, by 2022, to boost its capacity by 30%, the company said recently.
The planned investments include the purchase of modern equipment as well as optimization of existing production lines. The new technology would be added and current production lines upgraded in order to increase daily production capacity from 31,000 to more than 40,000 tyres.
The company has so far invested over PLN2 billion in the expansion of its flagship plant in Europe. Bridgestone Pozna? currently occupies some 26 ha, Roman Staszewski, VP, Plant Manager/Managing Director Bridgestone EMEA said.
“We will increase not only the area, but also the scale of production,” he said. “We will invest primarily in technological solutions that enable the production of a new generation of tyres. We will also modernize and optimize current production lines and production processes.”
The Pozna? plant, established in 1998, is one of the largest employers in the region, employing over 1,900 people. Bridgestone products made in Pozna? are sent to more than 40 countries, mainly Germany, France and the UK.
