The Omsk Carbon Group is expected to launch its first stage of its plant in Belarus soon. A working meeting between OCG management and the Vice Premier Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko had initially taken place on February 3 in Mogilev.
In addition to the talks, the meeting also involved a visit to the free economic zone where the construction of the Omsk Carbon Mogilev plant is in progress. The visitors also included representatives of the Mogilev Region Administration, top managers of the general contractor, the general designer and Belneftekhim, the Belarusian state concern for oil and chemistry.
The plant has become the first project in the carbon black production field on the former Soviet Union territory. The regional authorities provided the major Russian investor with conditions for the turnkey construction of the industrial facilities to attract investment to the region and ensure new employment opportunities.
Vladimir S Semashko expressed the willingness of the Belarusian Government “to look into the details of all matters needed for effective implementation and comprehensive support of the investment project in order to launch the production facilities as soon as possible”.
“During the meeting, we stressed the importance of this project for the Republic of Belarus as an example of effective integration and transfer of state-of-the-art technologies as part of the Eurasian Economic Union,” said Valeriy Kaplunat, the head of Omsk Carbon Group.
At the construction site, the guests were shown advanced solutions in production control as well as modern energy and resource saving technologies to be implemented at the plant. It was noted how important the carbon black plant was as an essential element of a through technological chain within the system of manufacturing facilities operating in Belarus: oil refinery, high-tech raw materials, including carbon black, and end consumer products such as tyres and mechanical rubber goods.
Timofey Kucherenko, Executive Director of Omsk Carbon Group, commented on the meeting: “We conducted talks about the testing of our products in the second quarter of 2018 at the tyre manufacturing facilities of Belshina JSC, one of the project’s key strategic partners and made a plan for further development of raw material resources from Belarusian oil refineries. “
