Adventa Bhd said today it no longer manufactures surgical gloves, indirectly dismissing a financial daily’s report that a leading industry player was buying the former’s surgical glove business.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Adventa said it had sold the business to Aspion Sdn Bhd in 2012.
English daily Edge FD, quoting two industry sources, reported today that Top Glove Corp Bhd was to be acquiring the privately-held surgical glove operations of Adventa.
“The board of directors of Adventa wishes to clarify that the company is no longer involved in the surgical glove manufacturing operations.
“Adventa had undertaken a restructuring exercise in 2012 whereby the company had on July 25, 2012, accepted the offer letter from Aspion Sdn Bhd to dispose of all of the surgical glove businesses and undertakings, including the liabilities and assets of Adventa other than the excluded business.
The excluded business means all the shares in the capital of Sun Healthcare (M) Sdn Bhd and Electron Beam Sdn Bhd.
“The disposal was approved by the shareholders on Nov 1, 2012 and was completed on Nov 30, 2012,” Adventa explained.
