Malaysia’s natural rubber output for the month of July 2017 rose by 8.7%, reaching 54,994 tonnes from the 50,614 tonnes produced in the previous month, according to the country’s Department of Statistics.
The department said in a statement today, the main contributor of natural rubber production is from smallholding sector which is more than 90%.
It said the average monthly price of latex concentrate dropped 55.51 sen per kilogramme (kg) to 517.57 sen per kg as compared to June 2017.
Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 recorded an increased in the average monthly price of 32.53 sen per kg to 635.24 sen per kg.
Malaysia’s natural rubber exports went up by 5.5% to 47,136 tonnes compared to the previous month. The five main destinations of natural rubber exports were China, Germany, Iran, US and Finland.
Domestic consumption of natural rubber increased by 4.2% to within the same period. The rubber gloves industry remains as the main domestic consumer with consumption of 72.9%
At the end of July 2017, level of natural rubber stocks declined by 3.4% to 192,196 tonnes, it added.
