EXPORTS of tyres from the Shandong region increased in value by 54%, to US$7,834 million in 2011, according to a local official. President of the Shandong Provincial Rubber Industry Association, Zhang Hongmin said this trend was much better than the national trend which had seen exports suffer from US trade tariffs. According to Hongmin, the region’s export growth was based on technological improvement and innovation.
Shandong’s tyre makers produced 156.3 million radial tyres, accounting for 39.3% of the country’s total output, of which 45.5 million were of steel radial tyres, accounting for 50.3% of national output; 110.7 million were semi-steel radial tyres, representing 36% of the country’s total output of these products.(PRA)
