The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association welcomed the official launch of the Market Surveillance Action on Tyres 2015 last 6th of April 2016. This is thefirst joint action in the area of tyre label market surveillance.
PROSAFE, the authorized body tasked by the European Commission to coordinate this campaign, is heading the united efforts of 13 Market Surveillance Authorities from different European Union (EU) member states and Turkey to ensure the effective enforcement of tyres regulatory measures.
This action will last until the beginning of 2018 and the consortium will also work closely with the other 28 non-participating EU Market Surveillance Authorities through their liaison with Tyres ADCO. They will also be working closely with an Advisory Board comprising of European-level associations of supply-side businesses, consumer organisations and environmental NGOs.
“ETRMA believes that this action is key to establish a level playing field in Europe and for the benefit of the consumers as it combines compliance controls on both safety and energy labelling requirements” said Ms Cinaralp, Secretary General of ETRMA.
