The Michelin Group is the top tyre maker for sustainable development, according to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI survey RobecoSAM). The tyre maker scored 87/100 in the last rankings, up 4 points, and rose to the forefront of the Original Equipment sector.
Michelin ranks first in its sector in 12 of the 18 assessment criteria used by the study in the three major fields of CSR: social, environmental aspects and societal aspects.
Michelin is distinguished by its performance in the social sector with a particularly strong increase in the quality of its relationships with stakeholders. In the field of the environment, Michelin keeps for the second consecutive year the maximum score of 100 for its climate strategy. In the economic field, Michelin performs best in five of the six criteria, with the largest increase for its ethical and policy compliance.
Launched in 1999, the DJSI is the first global index to distinguish the best performing companies in sustainability. Today, the world is the DJSI sustainability index most recognized by investors. The 3,400 largest listed global companies on the index Global Total Stock Market Dow Jones are invited each year to participate in the investigation by RobecoSAM. Of the 2,500 companies evaluated this year (all sectors), 317 were included in the final classification.
