The Tan Bien-Kampong Thong Development Company, an affiliate of the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG), recently opened a rubber latex plant in Cambodia’s Kampong Thon province.
The processing plant was designed to produce 3,000 tonnes of rubber latex per year. The Vietnamese company also has the license to grow rubber trees on 700ha of land in the Kampong Thom province. The plant brought in a total of US$43.5mn in investments to Cambodia.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay and Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat attended the opening ceremonies.
PM Yim Chhay said he valued the investments Vitemnan is making, as it develops Cambodia’s economy and creates jobs.
Minister Phat also thanked Cambodia for welcoming the investments and stated that the country would continue cooperation with Cambodia in many other sectors.
