Flat tyres will soon be a thing of the past. A Korean company developed Tannus Tyres, a solid bicycle tyre that never goes flat. The tyres don’t blow out when punctured, or lose tyre pressure, because they’re not filled with air.
Unlike the regular air-filled tyre, Tannus is made entirely of a patented resin.
“The patented Aither technology that makes up 100% of our solid tyre is a scientifically engineered super material, that whilst being extremely resistant to wear and the environment, it still provides comfort, minimizes rolling resistance, and provides unprecedented safety” states the Tannus tyre’s website.
The tyre looks, feels, and weighs like a regular pneumatic tyre—except that it doesn’t go flat, and comes in all different colors. The tyres come in soft, regular, or hard and will set you back around US$50-US$70.
