“McGee University” trains employees

McGee-Auto-Service-&-Tires

McGee Auto Service & Tires launches “McGee University”, a year-long education programme to train eight select technicians to step up from General Maintenance Technicians to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Technician status.

The Master Technician status is considered a technician’s career milestone and certification is not easy. McGee decided to start the programme to motivate employees and help their career development.

To get into the University, a technician should be working at McGee for at least a year and has to be nominated by their store manager. The candidates then had to write an essay and pass the interview.

The chosen eight candidates will undergo a year-long training the will be comprised of one week of training in a hotel and three weeks of study and workbooks every month. Training will start this month and by the end of it, participants will be ASE certified Master Technicians, eligible to wear ASE’s blue shoulder patch on their uniforms. ASE Master Technicians are required to recertify every five years to keep up with industry changes.
