Ohio’s city council has approved Kenda US to locate its first North American R&D facility in the Akron-Canton suburb, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Kenda will bring 45 full-time jobs and an approximate annual payroll of US$4 million.
The council also extended the contract with Kimble Recycling and Disposal for another five years while expanding the recycling segment at no increase in cost to residents. The economic development grant agreement with Kenda Tires will allow the company, which operates a sales office in the Columbus suburb of Reynoldsburg, to locate its first North American research and development facility in Green. The agreement calls for Green to return 50% of the city income taxes collected from Kenda for seven years to assist with renovations of the 50,000-sq ft building now occupied by several small firms on Mayfair Road. The city will try to help relocate those businesses within Green, Mayor Dick Norton said
The company was established in Taiwan in 1962 and specialises in tyres for passenger cars, motorcycles, trailers, ATVs and industrial equipment
