China Manufacturers Alliance L.L.C. (CMA) has secured SmartWay verification for three Duraturn-brand truck tyres it’s sourcing from Chinese tyre maker Yanchang Petroleum Group Rubber Co. Ltd.
The Environmental Protection Agency has verified the Duraturn DS28 steer position, DA20 steer and drive positions and DT22 trailer position tyres as SmartWay compliant, CMA said, meaning these products have met the reduced rolling-resistance tyre performance criteria in the EPA’s SmartWay Technology Program.
“Being a part of the EPA SmartWay program is our overall commitment to reducing emissions and providing our customers with optimum fuel savings,” said Aaron Murphy, Vice President of CMA. “In addition, it shows the technological advances that Duraturn tyres exhibit and we are working to release additional models into this line-up.”
Since 2004, EPA’s SmartWay Technology Program tests and verifies the performance of vehicles, technologies and equipment that have the potential to lower greenhouse gases and other air pollutants from freight transport.
CMA has been selling the Duraturn truck tyre line in North America for nearly a year, and is adding passenger and light truck versions as well, as the company announced this week at the International Tire Exhibition & Conference in Orlando, Fla.
