The Vredestein Quatrac 5 is the latest evolution in the company’s all-season tire line, which began more than 20 years ago with the Quatrac.
The asymmetric tread and shoulder design features unique summer and winter sides.
The summer side – with its reduced air ratio, “ensures excellent handling and superior steering precision on dry and wet surfaces,” according to Apollo Vredestein B.V.
The winter side – is equipped with advanced sipe technology, which “ensures grip on snow and ice.” Peter Snel, chief passenger vehicle research and development manager for Apollo Vredestein, says the tire’s design compromises on the side of its winter characteristics and safety versus summer characteristics.
The tire also has 1) “extremely low rolling resistance,” which qualifies the tire as green under European Union tire labeling requirements; and 2) low exterior noise levels. Like the new Vredestein Snowtrac 5 winter tire, it has the mountain snowflake symbol stamped on its sidewall.
The Vredestein Quatrac 5 is available in 12 sizes ranging from 185/65R15 88H to 225/45R17 94V XL. It is available worldwide, although it was designed more for the European market, which puts less emphasis on long tread wear.
