Danish company Starco has set up a tyre manufacturing plant in Sri Lanka. The new plant, which represents an initial capital investment of around EUR2 million, will specialise in the manufacture of solid rubber tyres, to be marketed worldwide under the Starco brand.
The new operation in Sri Lanka will create 120 jobs in the local community. The production methodology will draw on the technology resources of the entire Starco group, including the UK-based plastic wheel and tyre manufacturing company Starco DML. The new facility is scheduled to be in operation by the first quarter of 2012.
