In the desert of Sonora, close to the biggest copper open-pit mining of Mexico and one of the largest in the world, Italian retreading technology firm TRM has delivered what it says is “the most modern OTR plant” to Kal Tire, a Canadian firm specialising in mining tyres and retreading of the biggest OTR sizes.
The plant was put in operation through the active collaboration of the Mexican field team of Kal Tire and the technical team of TRM.
TRM says it supplied all the required retreading equipment including a dedicated multipurpose working gate with a flexible tooling head to perform the three steps required for buffing and the final grooving; a full automatized building machine with a calender head; a couple of autoclaves and curing presses. The installation allows Kal Tire the full process flexibility for tyre sizes up to 63”.
