SyNovus boasts several distinct features. “Designed as a low energy nitrile with no maturation needed, SyNovus offers superior tensile strength properties and higher levels of durability and chemical resistance. An unprecedented colour & odour improvement makes SyNovus a superior product of choice for the glove industry. It is the answer to the industry’s need – lower operating costs and efficiency, besides the accelerator free feature that appeals to manufacturers. This presents the glove industry with the opportunity to develop new market opportunities whilst improving the sustainability of manufacturing processes.” says Jason Davies, SBU Director of Health & Protection, Synthomer.

The first generation of the product was launched in 2002, and was subsequently updated in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2015 respectively. Synovus is the newest development – a solution that makes manufacturing smarter, transforming chemistry into business value and safer healthcare for all.

Synthomer’s dedication to continued improvement and investment

Executive Vice President (Asia) Derick Whyte spoke at the event. “Synovus is the product of significant research and development effort and comes from what I call our CI Cubed approach. CI³, quite simply put, is Continuous Innovation, Continuous Improvement and Continuous Investment,” he said.

“Our Asian Innovation Centre is the product of a bold decision in the early 2000’s to move our NBR Business from the UK to Malaysia, the heart of the Dipping Industry. Since that initial investment the fledging centre has grown not only in terms of the numbers of people, now over 60, but also in terms of its innovation capacity. Investment has continued year on year and I can say that since 2014 we have seen the level of investment in innovation increase by more than 60 per cent.” Whyte said further.

To prove this, he said that in Kluang, the company’s first investment in Malaysia cycle times improved by 25 per cent since the launch of their first generation product until today. They have also been able to improve cycle time by over 35 per cent in the last three years.

Their latest investment includes the installation of new generation reactor in Pasir Gudang. It involves an investment of RM265 million.
