Japan’s Yokohama Rubber Company (Yokohama) has been supplying premium auto manufacturer Porsche with original equipment (OE) tyres for use on the Porsche Cayenne SUV. The new Cayenne – the third model – will thus feature Yokohama’s first all-season “AVID GT” tyres since the SUV was first introduced by Porsche.The third model of the Cayenne has been sold globally since end-2018 and can have either 20-inch or 21-inch tyres.
Yokohama designed the “AVID GT” with its “environmentally, human, and socially friendly” BluEarth global tyre brand to deliver a safe driving experience. Aside from providing superior drivability and fuel efficiency, the “AVID GT” tyres bear the “M+S” (mud & snow) marking on its sidewall and the “N0” mark to indicate Porsche’s approval.
In line with Yokohama’s medium-term management plan, Grand Design 2020 (GD2020), one of the company’s “specific strategies” for its consumer tyre business expansion is to increase use of Yokohama tyres as OE on premium cars in Japan and abroad – making Yokohama Rubber the tyre maker of choice by automakers around the world in recognition of its technologies and quality.
