Birla Carbon, Chasm ink deal to develop nanotube-enhanced carbons

Global manufacturer/supplier of carbon black, Birla Carbon, has entered a partnership with Chasm Advanced Materials, a similarly renowned manufacturer/developer of printed electronics and battery materials, to design new, hybrid nanomaterials – the companies will share research and engineering resources on carbon substrates and carbon nanotubes to benefit various demanding market segments including high-performance tyres, novel coatings and next-generation batteries.

The partnership is aimed at facilitating sustainable innovative solutions to address customer, consumer and industry needs through Chasm’s nanotube-enhanced carbon (NTeC) technology and Birla Carbon’s business expertise.

CEO Birla Carbon, Dr. Santrupt B. Misra, who is also the Director of Aditya Birla Group – Human Resources, commented on the opportunity: “The combination of Chasm’s expertise in nanotube enhancement and our deep knowledge of carbon substrates and applications offers us the chance to rapidly advance our understanding of these high-performance, scalable nanomaterials.”
