YOKOHAMA Rubber Co. Ltd. is constructing a second plant in Thailand to double capacity for radial truck tyres in the country by late 2015. The second plant will be built adjacent to its existing factory in Rayong Province, which started production in 2005.
The company is putting in US$82 million for the construction of the Phase II factory that is expected to start in July; and once completed, production commences by April 2015; by end of the target year, it would have reached its full annual capacity of 350,000 units.
The company said the expansion will also boost sales of medium truck/bus tyres globally.
