YOKOHAMA Rubber Co., Ltd., has officially released in June a large-size radial tyre for rigid dump trucks in the construction and mining sites – a 27.00R49 size model of its “RB42.” The tyre has a TRA code* of E-4 and a star rating for tyre strength of ” **.”
The “*” TRA code is a classification of tyre use and tread by the US Tire and Rim Association, Inc.
The lineup features “Regular” specifications for ordinary off-the-road surfaces, and “Cut Protected,” with excellent cut resistance. The tyres are suitable for a wide range of surfaces, from soft or loose surfaces such as mud or sand, to rough surfaces comprising gravel and rocks.
For the “RB42,” in addition to a new belt structure for large-size radial tyres and a specialised mould profile, Yokohama utilises an exclusive tread compound, also newly developed for large-size radial tyres. The result is excellent wear resistance, cut resistance and durability. As a tread pattern, a block tread pattern is employed, which balances wear resistance, traction and efficient mud ejection.
According to Yokohama, the large-size radial tyres for construction and mining vehicles are a value-added product, which (the firm) is employing as growth strategy for tyres.
Moreover, it said that since the global production of mineral resources is also growing, along it is the increasing demand for large- and ultra-large radial tyres. With this, YokohamaA intends to expand its presence in the mineral resources development sector through this official release of the large-size “RB42.”
