With the earlier announcement of the postponement of the World Rubber Summit (WRS) 2020, which was to be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from 4-6 May 2020, Singapore-headquartered International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) has said that the event will be held in 2021 either in the month of April, May or June.
It says that this was decided in consideration the WHO’s confirmation of the coronavirus (Covid-19) as a pandemic and the increasing imposition of strict travel restrictions in lieu of the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak. The government of Côte d’Ivoire has taken additional measures with the goal to limit the spread of the Covid-19 in the country.
Some invited speakers and delegates have also expressed concerns in relation to the organisation of the WRS 2020 on the scheduled dates.
IRSG says that in lieu of the persistent concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic the Secretariat and the Organising Steering Committee will await the comments from the stakeholders to announce the new dates of the World Rubber Summit in due course.
