Thai govt says bought 10,000 tonnes rubber in intervention

The Thai government has bought around 10,000 tonnes of rubber sheet from farmers in an intervention scheme to prop up prices, the deputy agriculture minister said.
“Now we have around 10,000 tonnes of rubber in stocks and I will be going to China in the next few weeks to negotiate to sell the rubber,” Deputy Agriculture Minister Nattawut Saikuar.
He said he would meet private rubber companies and the government there to negotiate sales at the best price.
The government has said it wanted to buy up to 200,000 tonnes in the current intervention scheme.
