Japan’s Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has forged a collaborative agreement with research company Tripod Works and computer equipment manufacturers Sysgration for their developing Direct TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) solutions. SRI plans to introduce its tyre pressure control solutions via Direct TPMS data – acquired over pressure and temperature monitoring – and will gradually expand the model with new functions and/or third-party services. The alliance will facilitate SRI’s global expansion on its “Smart Tyre Concept” and customer responsiveness.
Vehicle users have seamlessly adopted Car/Ride Sharing with the evolution of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), so the company expects tyre and vehicle control services, such as predictive maintenance services, will be forefront of autonomous driving. SRI aims to establish and provide new services to its customer base to meet these changes to the vehicle industry.
