DEMAND for Commercial tyres is expected to increase slightly in 2012 due to more supply-demand equilibrium, according to a Yokohama executive. The forecast is aligned with the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s (RMA) projection of 2% increase from 2012 to 16.3 million units of the aftermarket truck tyre shipments.
Yokohama is a member of the RMA.
Shipments in 2012 dropped by 5% as fleets opted to upgrade their rolling stock, said RMA. That trend, however, increased original equipment truck tyre shipments by more than 5% to 5.2 million units last year . For 2014 onward, Yokohama expects replacement market demand for truck tyres to rebound. (RJA)
