ITALIAN tyre maker Pirelli SpA has launched its second production unit at the Voronezh plant – a joint venture with Russian Technologies.
The Voronezh 2, which will run test tyres until March, is expected to roll out 2 million tyres annually by end of 2014, focusing on High performance tyres, especially winter tyres and off-road vehicles tyres; the projected capacity will be adding up to the first line’s annual capacity of 2 million units.
Pirelli, Russian Technologies and the Voronezh Regional Administration have collaborated on making the Voronezh Tyre Plant the most modern tyre production factory in Russia in just one year.
Pirelli’s investment in the Voronezh plant will total EUR100 million by 2014 , and additional investment worth EUR44 million may be put in by 2015, when the plant reaches its full production capacity of 4 million tyres per year
