Michelin North America, Inc., has introduced a new 49-inch tyre to address the aggressive everyday needs of mines and quarries in NA – the MICHELIN XD MINEWORKS 27.00R49. The tyre ensures dependable performance, especially for the many 100-tonne mining and quarry dump trucks, thanks to the latest mining tyre design principles.
The Michelin XD MINEWORKS tyre incorporates advanced casing and high-wear resistance compound technologies for surface mining tyres to handle heavy loads at lower pressure. It is designed with a new tread pattern and tread depth and maintains a good balance between TMPH1 and wear resistance to deliver even wear on hard soil and a worry-free product experience.
The tyre also allows operators to run with less pressure than competitor tyres for the same load. The non-directional tread minimises stone retention and delivers big benefits for the operator and the equipment. It comes with the same Michelin manufacturing warranty as all Michelin mining tyres.
With the introduction of the Michelin XD MINEWORKS, Michelin offers a complete 49-inch tyre portfolio, including the MICHELIN XDGRIP tyre and the MICHELIN XDR 3 tyre that is intended for challenging, loose surface conditions and maximises productivity/tyre life, respectively.
“Michelin has a strong heritage when it comes to supporting mines, quarries and contractors,” said Sarah Robinson, Marketing manager for B2B mining, Michelin North America. “Developed by a team of global experts, the Michelin XD MINEWORKS tyre is built with high-quality innovations that customers know and trust.”
