US company Momentive Performance Materials will expand production capacity for silanes at its facilities in Sistersville, WV, and Termoli, Italy, to meet growing demand from its global market, particularly in China.
The company will increase capacity for amino silanes at the Sistersville location and for vinyl silanes at Termoli. Momentive says it will also resume production for trimethoxysilane (TMS), Silquest A-187 epoxy silane and Silquest A-174 methacryl silane at the Sistersville location before the end of the year. Projects are underway at both sites, with completion expected in 2012.
Momentive says that its customers in the plastic additives, adhesives, sealants, tyre and coatings and other industries are increasingly turning to its silane formulations to provide enhanced performance characteristics in their end products.
The company will also continue to evaluate additional expansion opportunities in key world regions to support its customers and the growing global demand.(PRA)
