Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.’s (Yokohama) Advan Sport V107 tyre has been selected by German car maker Daimler A.G. as original equipment (OE) fitments for a number of new models marketed under the vehicle maker’s Mercedes-AMG brand. The Advan Sport V107 tyres were developed jointly with Mercedes-AMG and bear the car maker’s MO1 mark of approval on the tyre sidewall.
The tyres will feature on models including the GLE 63 4MATIC+ and GLE 63 4MATIC+ Coupe, which were launched in Europe in March 2020.
Yokohama markets the Advan Sport V107 as a “high-performance tyre developed primarily for use on high-power premium cars.” It succeeds the Advan Sport V105 and improves upon “the already excellent driving performance” of its predecessor, according to Yokohama.
Under its medium-term management plan, Grand Design 2020, Yokohama intends to expand its presence in the premium tyre markets. One of their strategies for achieving this goal is to increase the use of Yokohama tyres as OE on premium cars in Japan and globally.
