Malaysian Rubber Board to train skilled workers

rubberThe Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) and the International Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the training of skilled workers for the rubber industry in Malaysia.

IIPM is a professional body representing all sectors of the plantation industry. It was founded in May 2006 as an offshoot of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The purpose of its establishment is to promote knowledge of the science and art of planting management and to provide a source of authoritative views for communication to the government, industry and community.

The MOU was signed by YBhg Datuk Dr Mohd Akbar Md Said, Director General of the MRB and YBrs Dr Zairossani Md Nor, Deputy Director General (R&I), MRB. While representatives from IIPM were YBrs Mr Halid Hasbullah Boestamam, Managing Director of IIPM and YBrs Tuan Hj Daud Amatzin, Councillor IIPM. Also present at the ceremony was YB Dato’ Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad Abdullah, Chairman of MRB, Board members and senior officials of MRB and IIPM.

The objective of the MOU is to establish cooperation in providing formal education and training opportunities in nurturing professionals to meet the demands of the rubber industry especially for the rubber plantation sector through IIPM and Academy Havea Malaysia (AHM).
