South Korean advanced materials producer Lotte Chemical is acquiring the Elastomer Division of JSR, a Tokyo-headquartered company that supplies a diverse range of functional materials, synthetic rubbers, thermoplastic elastomers, performance chemicals and others. JSR’s asking price is reportedly up to KRW 1 trillion.
The symbiosis is expected to benefit Lotte Chemical with its current flagship products including butadiene (BD) and styrene monomer (SM), which are used as raw materials for synthetic rubber.
